Anderson Silva vs. Georges St-Pierre could happen in 2013 at Dallas Cowboys stadium

Superman vs. Batman. That right there could potentially be the biggest clash of raw awesome power to ever be mentioned in a statement, let alone actually occur in a bout of violence and action. A feature that gigantic would have to be held in a place best suited to withstand all the glory and splendor it creates. Earth is a playing field to Clark Kent and the Batcave is too important to be destroyed while Mr. Wayne shows why he is the greatest ever. Where would a fight like this take place? I will let you decide but I think Arkham Asylum would by a great final resting place for Kal-El.

Coming back into modern times and world as we know it, the real test of two of the greatest fighters to ever compete may indeed be happening sooner than later. Dana White stated on “UFC Tonight” last night in an interview that 2013 might be the year for fans, fighters and the world to watch UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva fight against UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. This fight could easily become the biggest selling event in UFC history, both for PPV purchase and live gate; the venue rumored makes perfect sense to hold the sell out crowd.

If that fight happens, it will probably happen at Dallas Cowboys stadium.” – Dana White.

The new stadium which opened in 2009 has a capacity for its regular football crowds of 80,000; it has the ability to expand to 110,000 with standing room.

Hosting an event like this super fight will be gigantic for every industry and participant involved. The money generated will show why MMA and the UFC are respectable and profitable investments to cities, commissions, governments and any other detractors who think it will hurt their local economies and moralities.

Aside from the lucrative gains, it would be headlined by two real ambassadors of the sport and gentlemen outside of the octagon. Silva and St-Pierre both in their respective times, give back to their families, friends and homes whenever they can; you do not read about them crashing into poles after leaving with women (not their significant others) and getting their license revoked.

The only issue that may inhibit this from happening is current UFC interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit, who looks to unify the titles and defeat St-Pierre this November. While some think this is not going to be a factor, White knows it is a possibility, “If St. Pierre can get past Condit, his next fight could be Silva, I think this could happen… this fight would probably be at a catch weight of 180lbs.”

What are your thoughts about fighting at a catch weight? Should either title be on the line? Freddie Roach has his own opinion of GSP moving up a division, but what do you the fans think?

Personally, this fight should happen regardless of weight classes and titles. These are two men who have been long discussed to fight each other, Silva wants it and fans have dreamnt about it for years. Making more fights like this and the upcoming UFC light heavyweight title match between Jon Jones (205) vs. Vitor Belfort (185) happen are helping to always make this the fastest growing and most popular combat sports promotion today.
