UFC 178 was such an anticipated event, some feared it could never live up to the hype. Thankfully those people were dead-wrong, as UFC 178 is a strong candidate for “Event of the Year” as 2014 comes to a close over the next two months.
In the main event of the evening, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson easily took out unheralded challenger Chris Cariaso, en route to a kimura submission victory in the second round.
In the co-main event, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone gave a rude welcoming to UFC debutant and former Bellator Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, as he chopped him down with brutal leg kicks on his way to a unanimous decision victory.
Also featured on the main card were sensational victories by Conor McGregor, Yoel Romero, and Cat Zingano.
