A look at Georges St-Pierre’s workout program RushFit

By Alex Mattis:

I went into Best Buy last month and found myself more than confused when I stumbled upon a sweaty Georges St. Pierre on the cover of a DVD titled “RUSHFIT STRENGTH & ENDURANCE WORKOUT.” Honestly, I was just there to get the DVD Love & Other Drugs and leave, but this left me wondering. Turns out, Georges St-Pierre has launched RUSHFIT, a home fitness exercise program.

Following trailblazers like Tony Little and Billy Blanks, the welterweight champion (and trainer, Erik Owings) structured an 8-week regimen that “brings his training camp right into your home.” I doubt we are going to see St. Pierre in any fabulous 4 AM infomercials like we would Little and Blanks, but it is safe to say this workout is just as stern as anything they ever came up with.

The program consists of seven workouts on six DVDs and two training guides to manage nutrition and progress. It’s like a Star Wars box set that yields completely opposite results. Intense dislike of Nick Diaz is NOT included with the package.

RUSHFIT has received very positive costumer reviews on Amazon and has a plethora of testimonies on it’s website. With the current worldwide interest in mixed martial arts, programs like this seem natural and will continue to be produced but having a star like George St. Pierre separates RUSHFIT from the rest.

Georges St. Pierre will be the most interested spectator of UFC 143 this Saturday night as Nick Diaz fights Carlos Condit for the interim UFC welterweight championship. The winner of Saturday night’s bout will be next in-line for GSP and his welterweight crown. St. Pierre was pushed to the shelf in 2011 following a serious ACL injury, which forced him out of this fight with Diaz, and is anxiously awaiting a return. Fortunately for fans, RUSHFIT should be able to keep you busy until GSP makes his return.
