Well it appears Conor McGregor will not be stepping in on short notice at UFC 180 to take on Diego Sanchez after all. According to a report from MMAJunkie, McGregor is being targeted for a bout with UFC veteran and No. 10 ranked Featherweight Dennis Siver in January.
Siver and McGregor have somewhat of a history. Last week McGregor called out Siver after his native German soccer team tied with the underdog Irish side. Siver, who is usually cool, calm, and collected, fired back at McGregor with a hilarious picture of Oscar the Grouch.
The bout is rumored to be taking place in Boston, a city with a huge Irish presence. McGregor fought in Boston in his second UFC fight, and entered the arena to a raucous crowd singing and chanting his name. Expect a similar walkout if McGregor does indeed face Siver this coming January.
