Matt Brown wants to welcome Georges St-Pierre back to UFC

MMA: UFC on FX-Brown vs Ramos

Not many people have begged to fight the dominant former Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, but not many people are Matt “The Immortal” Brown.

Prior to St-Pierre vacating his title at the end of 2013, Brown had been vying for a title shot against GSP, believing his style meshed well against the former champion.

Now nearly a year later, and with rumors of a St-Pierre comeback, Brown is hoping to welcome him back to the Octagon in 2015.

Brown was recently on the Great MMA Debate Podcast, and noted that he has always wanted to fight St-Pierre:

That’s a huge, huge fight. I’d love to have that fight. I always thought I matched up well with him. I think I am in the right position for it. I’m not the champion, he’s not going to come back and get the championship fight right off the bat. I’m in the right position. I can look at it objectively on paper and see that he would be the favorite. I would hope that it would be a five rounder. I would love to do it. I’ve always wanted to fight Georges.

If St-Pierre does decide to return, it will be interesting to see whether he gets a crack at the UFC title right off the bat, or if they opt to give Brown the former champion.
