Luke Rockhold becomes latest Adidas partner in the UFC

Adidas is one of the world’s leading apparel companies, and according to Forbes, they are attempting to expand their Combat Sports division in 2015.

No. 1 UFC Welterweight contender, “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler has been endorsed by Adidas for some time, but today the company announced a new partnership with top Middleweight contender Luke Rockhold.

Rockhold made the news public today on Instagram and Twitter:

It’s official I have joined the three stripe army. Can’t tell u how stoked I am! “Please join us in officially welcoming @ufc middleweight @lukerockhold to the adidas MMA team” photo cred @honfoto

“Luke Rockhold is the kind of renaissance athlete a brand dreams of working with,” Adidas Combat Sports Managing Director Scott Viscomi told Forbes earlier this week. “He understands what it means to be a professional Adidas athlete, and he does everything we ask of him, in addition to bringing us opportunities. We are honored to have him on the team with Robbie and look forward to working with them as we continue our mission to add value to the USA combat sports market.”

Obviously this a major push in the right direction for MMA as a mainstream sport, and great for Rockhold as he looks to become the UFC champion in 2015.

Rockhold is set to face off against bitter enemy Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC Fight Night 55 in November.
