Kimbo Slice wants to be ‘tested on the ground’ in Bellator

Kimbo Slice won’t be afraid to hit the mat when he eventually makes his debut in Bellator later this year.

Slice, a.k.a Kevin Ferguson, has been away from the sport of mixed martial arts for quite a number of years, but the former YouTube and TUF sensation is certain he has improved leaps and bounds since his time in EliteXC and UFC.

“I know I have (evolved),” Slice told Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour earlier this week. “Rolling with these guys and being put in awkward positions over the years, it just took time. That’s what it was, I was just too young back then. I was like a bull. I was just headstrong, running in there ready to just swing my horns around.”

“But now I’ve got a lot more tools to work with,” Slice continued. “I mean, s**t, I would like to be tested on the ground. I would like for a motherf**ker to come in there and try and test me, to see if they’re going to try to get me down and they get caught with something. I mean, that’s what I would be looking for, a guy to come in, to try to take me straight to the ground. Yeah, go for it.”

While there is no date finalized for Slice’s debut, you can expect Bellator and Scott Coker to match him up with a big name in order to garner huge views on Spike TV.

With Tito Ortiz’s name floating about, could we witness the former UFC champ take on the former YouTube knockout machine?

Only time will tell.
