Georges St-Pierre not rushing back to MMA any time soon

Ever since former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre vacated his title at the end of 2013, fans and pundits alike wondered when the Canadian superstar would return to the Octagon.

With news that St-Pierre returned to training last week after suffering a torn ACL earlier in the year, rumors once again began spreading about a potential return for St-Pierre.

Today, on Chael Sonnen’s “You’re Welcome” Podcast, the former champion put the rumors to rest; returning to training does not mean anything in terms of making a UFC return:

I’m going to tell you the truth: I always train. I started training when I was 7 years old. I’ve never stopped. Training it part of my life, so it doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean I’m going to be back or not. Whether I retire or not or come back or not, I’m always going to be training. I like to feel in shape and feel good in my own skin. That’s why I’m training.

While St-Pierre did not fully reject the notion of returning, it seems that he is still far away from that date, if it truly ever comes before he decides to retire.

Sorry Matt Brown.
