Lot’s of news and rumors these last 24 hours in the MMA world. Just when you think a quiet week with no events gracing our airwaves will give us a chance to not be in a vortex of MMA, some big news breaks, and a rumor makes that big news even more interesting.

If you haven’t heard on social media, Scott Coker is replacing Bjorn Rebney as CEO of Bellator, much to the reported chagrin of Rebney, and made possible by the Viacom executives that are the majority owners of Bellator. This isn’t official yet, as Bjorn is fighting for his position, but let’s be honest, Spike and Bjorn haven’t seen eye to eye for years. It’s time. And this could be very, very good for the sport.

What’s interesting is how this will be taken by Dana White and the UFC. Dana and Bjorn, you could say, are enemies, while Coker and Dana have been cordial for quite a while. Could Coker harbor ill-will for Dana killing Strikeforce? I have no idea, but this is the most interesting drama for years.

Oh yeah, on top of that, Kimbo Slice might be coming to Bellator too.

Boom.

Amidst all of this, Gary Shaw was planning on having Kimbo fight in a boxing match at the MSG on 26th of July on the GGG vs. Geale card. What id he think of Coker and possibly Kimbo fighting for Bellator?

Marcos Villegas got the scoop below.

“I wanted to get your comments on the rumors of Kimbo possibly fighting for Bellator. Have you heard about any of this and if so what are your comments? I know you had mentioned to me that you wanted to have him on the Geale card in NY. Is that still happening? If he signs with Bellator, does it affect any standing he has with you contract wise?

Also, it is being reported that Scot Coker is going to be the head of Bellator. What are your thoughts on that?”

Shaw responds:

“Scott is a great leader and very smart, he will be an asset to Bellator if he should join forces with them. I am trying to do a Kimbo fight on the MSG card and will keep you posted.

I don’t know anything about the MMA offer, but would prefer that Kimbo sticks to boxing, where he is better prepared.”
