Frank Mir wants rubber match with Brock Lesnar in the UFC

Brock Lesnar

Are you interested in watching a Heavyweight on a four-fight losing streak take on a WWE wrestler who has shown no signs of wanting to return to the MMA landscape? Well if you are, than Frank Mir‘s idea of bringing Brock Lesnar back to the fold for a rubber match sounds right up your alley.

Lesnar and Mir, both former UFC Heavyweight champions, fought twice back in 08-09, with each man securing a victory apiece in their heated rivalry.

From then on, both men’s careers hit somewhat of a downward spiral. Lesnar was dealt with a horrible bout of diverticulitis, leading to a lengthy sabbatical before returning and going 1-2 in his last three fights prior to returning to the WWE.

As for Mir, after going 4-1 following his hellacious beating from Lesnar at UFC 100, he has now lost four straight and is on the brink of retirement.

In a recent interview with Combate, Mir shared his desire to welcome Lesnar back into the fold with a rubber match:

I think that [Lesnar’s] come back would be good for MMA. He’s still popular, people know who he is and he brings attention. We are tied with one win each. I would enjoy a rubber match. I would like to welcome him back to the UFC.

As noted previously, Lesnar has shown no signs of wanting to return to MMA, but stories continue to pop up nearly every week that he could potentially make a UFC comeback. At this point, it is simply a wait and see type of game.
