Bobby Green to retire after Edson Barboza fight at UFC Fight Night 57?

UFC on FOX: Weigh-in

Bobby Green is currently ranked at No. 7 in the UFC’s Lightweight division, and with a win over Edson Barboza this weekend at UFC Fight Night 57, “King” could be looking at a No. 1 contender fight in early 2015.

At the highest point of his MMA career, and with bigger opportunities on the horizon, Green may be calling it quits this Saturday after his co-main event bout. According to a post on his Facebook page, which you can see below, Green is contemplating retirement after he throws down against Barboza.

Green has had a rough year outside the Octagon, losing two brothers in shootings, so it would not be as far fetched as it seems for “King” to step away from the limelight.

Then again, this could just be a matter of a tough weight cut weighing heavily on Green’s mind. At this point, we will have to wait and see whether or not Green will continue his climb up the UFC lightweight ladder, or decide to step off right before the apex.
