Rosado vs. Lemieux: Rosado hopes win sets up Canelo or Cotto bout

Rosado Lemieux presser

Gabriel Rosado is known for being a tough fighter, who at one pint in his career, was a rising star in the sport.

After suffering four-straight losses (although the loss against J’Leon Love in 2013 was changed to a no contest after Love failed a drug test) all the steam behind Rosado’s name all but evaporated.

With an exciting knockout win against Brian Vera in the main event of the Big Knockout Boxing’s (BKB) pay-per-view event in August, the buzz around his name to started slowly build up again.

The BKB bout was held in a circular pit with no ropes, as opposed to the usual squared ring, lifted off the ground surrounded by ropes, helping push the action. But as we’ve seen in the past, Rosado does not need any help making a fight exciting, but he did what he had to do to net a win.

Rosado will step into the traditional boxing setting once again and headline a HBO Boxing After Dark triple header Dec. 6 at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York against the undefeated Canadian export David Lemieux.

Rosado hopes a win over the highly-touted Lemieux will lead to a big fight with the likes of Miguel Cotoo and Canelo Alvarez, but with his recent record, he will most likely have to do more to land a shot at one the sport’s bigger stars.

If he can win convincingly, his exciting fight style and fan appeal could very well land him a big fight, but anything short of a solid opponent and he will have to further prove he is ready to fight for a major title once again.
