Robert Guerrero’s father mimics Mayweathers, says Floyd throws patty cake shots

With as calm and collect Robert Guerrero has been leading up to his bout with Floyd Mayweather, his father, Ruben Guerrero, has been anything but.

From saying he will knockout Mayweather’s dad to talking trash at any occasion that he can, the elder Guerrero has been to Robert as Danny Garcia’s father, Angel is to him.

For Ruben to be calling Mayweather’s punches patty cake punches is funny to watch, but as Mayweather has shown it is far from the truth.

Mayweather is not really a one-punch KO threat, but putting together combinations and stopping about early is within Mayweather’s realm.

Out of Mayweather’s 43 wins he has won by early stoppage 26 times, giving him a 60 percent KO-to-win ratio.

Mayweather’s recent history is not so impressive. Since 2005 Mayweather has fought 11 times and in those 11 fights he has won by KO four times, which doesn’t really mean he doesn’t throw power shots.

Just because you don’t see Mayweather winning by knockout every other fight doesn’t mean he is not throwing hard shots. Looking at Mayweather opponents post-fight, their faces definitely show signs of taking power shots, making Reuben’s claims of patty cake punching just trash-talk.

If the Guerrero camp really believes that Mayweather throws soft shots, they could have a long night ahead of them May 4 when Mayweather commands their attention in the ring with his so-called patty cake shots.

How Robert answers back after finding out Mayweather does throw with power will be the key to whether or not the younger Guerrero has any shot at pulling out the upset.
