Manny Pacquiao says he can beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. because ‘God is with me’

As the world waits for what Manny Pacquiao says is for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to sign his end of the contract to make the long-awaited super-fight between the two to take place, “Pacman” has been very adamant he wants the fight in interviews and via social media.

Pacquiao(57-5-2, 38 KOs) has been making the rounds to various media outlets to promote his documentary, “Manny” and while in Hollywood, California, Fight Hub TV caught up with the eight-division champ.

Although he wasn’t in a very talkative mood, surely from answering the same questions about a possible Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs) showdown over and over, he did reveal why he ultimately can beat Money May if the two were to fight on May 2.

“Because god is with me,” Pacquiao said. “Because God will give me strength.”

Letting his 1.56 million Twitter followers know how confident he is that he can best Mayweather in a fight he tweeted:

Taking his thoughts a bit further, he wanted to let Mayweather know that if he doesn’t opt to sign to fight him that he will be letting more than him down.

With almost every well-known boxing outlet predicting that Mayweather would be the winner if the fight of the decade takes place, Pacquiao would be banking on history to repeat itself to prove the doubters wrong.

Mayweather let the fans know his side of the story to why the bout hasn’t been signed just yet, despite rumors running rampant that this would indeed be the time the fight is signed.

Talking to satellite radio channel Shade 45, Mayweather explained Pacquiao saying he has agreed to all terms means nothing, despite what the public thinks (h/t BoxingScene.com).

“Hopefully its Mayweather-Pacquiao [on May 2nd]. Of course we are trying to make the fight happen between me and Pacquiao,” Mayweather said. “Are we negotiating? Absolutely we are negotiating. But Pacquiao said that he agreed to everything. What did you agree to? You have no say so. You have a boss. You don’t have no say so. You have a boss…..that’s called Top Rank Promotions. It’s not called Pacquiao Promotions. With my company, it’s called Mayweather Promotions.”

“We’re going to make it happen though. We’re trying, but it’s been extremely difficult dealing with Top Rank. And I don’t want to sit here and point the finger at Pacquiao and say ‘it’s him.’ It’s not Pacquiao, it’s his promoter. A lot of times when Pacquiao says ‘I agreed’ you don’t have nothing to do with this, you’re not a boss. On a chess board you’re a pawn.”

So, like usual, it is a he said, he said instance, as Pacquiao fans will discredit what Mayweather is saying and just say he is ducking “Pacman” and “Money May’s” fans will back what he is saying and blame Top Rank CEO, Bob Arum, as the one responsible for the fight not happening.

If the bout doesn’t go down, it is rumored that Mayweather will fight Miguel Cotto in a rematch of their 2013 bout. Although most fans wouldn’t mind seeing the two fight again with how close their first fight was, with all the hype building up surrounding the talks to get Mayweather versus Pacquiao signed, it will be a huge letdown to fans at this point.
