Manny Pacquiao mocks Mayweather fiasco in Foot Locker Commercial

With the fight the world has been waiting to see going on its fifth year of speculation after multiple failed attempts to make it come to fruition, Manny Pacquiao mocks the mythical bout with Floyd Mayweather in a new Foot Locker commercial spot.

Pacquiao overhears a couple of guys in a boxing gym saying “people wanted it and Foot Locker made it happen,” to which Pacquiao mistakenly takes the news as Mayweather has finally accepted the bout.  The guy in fact are not talking about the Mayweather bout and don’t have the courage to tell Pacman they were talking about a Foot Locker promotion.

The commercial is funny, but depending on what side you’re on the case is there that both fighters are reluctant to really make the fight happen. This commercial using Mayweather as the punchline certainly won’t help the bout get made either.

As of late whenever Pacquiao is slated to fight, as is the case this week when he take on Chris Algieri Saturday at the Venetian Macao om HBO PPV, the Filipino star and his promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, will tell anyone who will listen that they are trying to make the bout.

Arum even went as far as saying that the fight is being negotiated (per The Daily Mail) as we speak and would take place in a big arena/stadium like the Dallas Cowboys’ own Dallas Stadium.

Before Pacquiao’s last fight in April against Timothy Bradley Arum said that he was in negotiations with Mayweather’s camp, to which the undefeated Mayweather denied any such meetings.

Who knows if we will ever see the fight take place, but with father time ticking away and public interest starting to wane a bit, if the bout will ever happen it will be within the next year-and-a-half.

Until then all we can do is sit back and laugh at the comedy that is Mayweather and Pacquiao.
