Many martial arts aficionados consider Anderson “The Spider” Silva the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. His reputation and aura of invincibility made it all that more difficult to swallow when Silva broke his leg in horrendous fashion at UFC 168 last December.
More than a year later, on January 31st 2015, Silva will return to the Octagon to take on fan-favorite and former UFC title challenger, Nick Diaz.
That fight has all the makings of a “fight of the century” candidate, and the anticipation in the lead-up to the fight may reach astronomical levels we have yet to see in MMA.
Without Silva in 2014, UFC definitely took a hit, but with a return on the horizon, things are looking up for the organization. ZUFFA Chairman/CEO Lorenzo Fertitta recently sat down to discuss Silva’s monumental return, and you can listen to Fertitta’s thoughts in the video below:
