Gennady Golovkin vs. Martin Murray: Full weigh-in and face off video

GGG Murray weigh in FH

With the big Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Manny Pacquiao super-fight finally being made Friday, one of the fastest rising stars in the sport, Gennady Golovkin and his opponent Martin Murray weighed in for their bout on Saturday.

Both Golovkin and Murray made weight for their bout, with Golovkin tipping the scales at 158.9 pounds, while Murray came in at 159.9 for their 160-pound division showdown.

The middleweight title bout will air Saturday at 5:45 p.m. EST on HBO from Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) has a 17-fight win streak via KO and will look to add the always tough Murray (29-1-1, 12 KOs) to that list.

Murray has had two previous shots at titles and both ended in controversial decision losses. Murray’s 2012 loss to Felix Sturm could have gone either way so it wasn’t too outrageous of an outcome. But his loss to Sergio Martinez in 2013, in Martinez’s home country of Argentina, was a bad decision, one that about any fan or media member would tell you Martin won.

Golovkin should get the toughest test of his career, if Martin shows up like he usually does, so GGG can’t look past Murray with big fights in the distance.

Golvkin’s name has been mentioned with the likes of Carl Froch, Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and the winner of the Andy Lee-Peter Quillin bout.

So before you look ahead to May for the Super Bowl of boxing, slow it down and take the time to see a superstar in the making in Golovkin, take his next step toward the top of the sport.
