Gennady Golovkin vs. Martin Murray: Full final press conference and face off

GGG vs Murray Face off Final PResser 2015 FH

With just a few days until the human wrecking ball they call Gennady Golovkin faces Martin Murray in “GGG’s” first bout of 2015.

Taking place in Monte Carlo, Moraco, Golovkin will look to continue his impressive knockout win streak which currently stands at 17.

Golovkin was busy in 2014, going 3-0 in his trio of fights, win all by early stoppage. Golovkin defeated Osumanu Adama via Round 7 TKO, Daniel Geale by TKO in three and Marco Antonio Rubio by Round 2 KO.

Murray will look to be the first person to beat Golovkin, but that will be a tough task Saturday night on HBO.

Murray has an impressive record at 24-1, but besides Felix Sturm, the St Helens, England native hasn’t beat anyone at an elite level, officially.

In April 2012 Martin Murray gave former middleweight titlist Sergio  Martinez all he could handle, but ultimately lost via 12-round unanimous decision. Most attributed the outcome to hometown bias, as it was Martinez’s first bout in Argentina since he left the country in 2002.

Murray is a rugged fighter who can give Golovkin a run and possibly last all 12 rouns, but he lacks the power to keep pace with Golovkin, which won’t bode well for him even if he can last the entire fight.

With bigger fights on the horizon (that is if top fighters don’t duck him) Golovkin could face the winner of Andy Lee versus Peter Quillin, Miguel Cotto or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. First one of those fighters would have to agree to a bout with GGG, and if he ends the night early once again Saturday night, don’t expect any of them to jump at the chance to face arguably the hottest fighter in the sport.
