Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao tops Fight Hub TV’s 2015 boxing wish list

2015 Boxing WIsh List FH

After a underwhelming 2014, the sport of boxing will need another year like 2013 to remind people that the sport is still healthy and well and to help quiet down those pesky “Boxing is dead” naysayers.

With all kinds of match ups with different reasons to why they would make for great fights, the time is now to finally set up some of the bouts that not only Fight Hub TV craves, but the general boxing fan in general.

Of course topping the list is the long awaited super bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

With rumors flying about ongoing negotiations between the two pound-for-pound best fighters, there is as much optimism as ever the dream fight finally gets signed, sealed and delivered in 2015. But with how the fight has failed to materialize over the years due to various reasons, fans should not count on this fight taking place this year until an official press release is sent out and you see the breaking news scroll on ESPN about the fight.

If Pacquiao and Mayweather follow suit and not fight each other this year there are some other fighters who will interest the boxing community.

Mayweather taking on Keith Thurman would for a quality fight, as Thurman posses the power to knock Mayweather out. With how Money May has been hit more than in the past as of late, the opportunity will be there for Thurman to shock the word and KO the self-proclaimed “The Best Ever” if he gets picked as the next winner of the “Mayweather Lottery” this year.

Pacquiao’s most intriguing non-Mayweather bout would be against his protegee, Adrien “the Problem” Broner. Getting Pacman in there with the next best thing to Mayweather would intrigue fans to see how much of a problem Broner could give Pacquiao.

It would be a fight where Broner could prove to the world that he still is a prime talent after his loss to Marcos Maidana if he could produce a better showing against Pacquiao.

Broner hasn’t looked the same in the welterweight division and if this bout would be made it would likely be at junior welterweight as Pacquiao is said to want drop down in weight for his next bout (if a Mayweather bout does not happen). That would give Broner his best shot at knocking off Pacquiao, although Pacquiao is seemingly stronger in the 140-pound division than at 147.

Besides the two biggest names in boxing there are other bouts that made Fight Hub’s list, a few that include the best between 122 and 126 pounds.

Getting about any combination between Vasyl Lomachenko, Leo Santa Cruz, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Nicholas Walters against each other would make for star-making potential fights.

The one bout that seems to have the best chance of taking place in 2015 is the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez versus Miguel Cotto showdown. Reports have been that the fight is close to being signed, but a rumored Mayweather pitch at a rematch put a little doubt on the bout taking place.

With a $40 million payday for Cotto being the rumor, it’s hard to see Mayweather offering an opponent that much, even if it means stopping a major fight from taking place on is beloved Cinco De Mayo weekend. So with that said the Alvarez-Cotto fight should take place this year, giving us at least one of our wish list fights.
