Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao: Arum says Pacquiao, Showtime-HBO and Mayweather’s team have all agreed to terms; Mayweather still yet to sign

Arum on Cotto-Canelo

Top Rank CEO Bob Arum said that everyone involved in the talks to finally bring Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao to fruition have agreed to terms, including Pac-man himself, Top Rank, HBO and Showtime and even “Money May’s” team, but the one man needed most to agree, Mayweather, has not.

If that mean we’re any closer to the superbout, set to take place May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, finally taking place remains to be seen, but it has to be a good sign.

The last snag in the deal was reported to be the two TV networks involved, Showtime and HBO, ironing out how they would co -produce the pay-per-view production for the bout.

There has been no details given about the possible TV deal, but it will most likely be similar to the one the two networks worked out to get the Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson bout signed in 2002.

With Pacquiao saying he will wait until January 31 to get the fight finalized before exploring other options for his next bout, we should hear the final word on the Mayweather-Pacquiao saga within the next nine days.

If what Arum says is true and Mayweather is the last signature needed to get the fight going, he will be the one fans will blame if the fight doesn’t take place and it will be interesting to see how his popularity is affected going forward because of it.

Let’s hope Mayweather signs his end of the deal so the biggest story of the year is not what fight didn’t get made (again), and instead we’re all raving about the long-awaited fight that finally did take place.
