Floyd Mayweather Jr. “I do not know if I will take a break after this fight, I still want to fight the champions”

So when the dust settles from the events of May 5th on May 6th, questions will remain about the futures of both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto. A loss for Cotto will be but a small blemish as I expect the boxing public to embrace his loss to one of the best boxers of the last 20 years. A loss for Mayweather will undoubtedly put his match-up with Manny Pacquiao in jeopardy. Anything can and will happen in a fight as we have seen with other combat sports but in boxing the man with the higher skill set usually wins nine times out of ten.

That of course though leaves another question…will we see Mayweather take another leave of absence? The last long lay off for “The Pretty Boy” came after his KO win over Ricky Hatton in 2007. Mayweather ended up taking a close to two year break citing being burnt out from the sport of boxing. Since 2009, Mayweather has fought once a year though his looming jail sentence has to make one wonder if it will make the fighter rethink his career or life in general.

Fight correspondent Marcos Villegas had a chance to talk about the subject of layoffs with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the fighter admits that he is not sure if he will take another break. He also touches on the gloves he will be using against Miguel Cotto on Saturday night.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. talks about potentially taking a break after this fight with Miguel Cotto and that ideally he would like to stay active and fight the other champions in boxing. He also talks about using 10oz gloves for his fight with miguel cotto.
