In response to the media hype, Uriah Hall says he’s not pushing for Anderson Silva… So why not Cung Le next?

Geez, people. Uriah Hall hasn’t even won a UFC fight yet and all of a sudden some fans and particularly vocal members of the media are calling for Anderson Silva/Hall. Yes, the Anderson Silva who is the greatest fighter of all time, vs. Hall, who lost to Chris Weidman. Just saying. Not that Hall doesn’t have an incredibly and INSANELY bright future ahead of him, but let’s just settle down. Now, we know that matchup’s a little silly, but others are dead-serious right now, and although we 100% believe that Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall would be an awesome fight to watch, but we think Uriah better win 3, 4, maybe 5 fights before he gets his shot.

He feels the same way. No point in leapfrogging, although it would be appropriate considering his coach on TUF was Chael Sonnen (zing!).

“I was shocked, like ‘What? Give me time to build up!’ Sometimes as a coach, they will see things in you that you don’t see. Since he was my coach at that time, he saw that potential. Somewhere down the line, maybe it will happen, but it’s not something I’m pushing.

I feel, personally, this guy is a walking legend and if I ever get the opportunity one day, that’d be great. I’m not looking towards that, I’d rather earn my way up there, like the rest of the guys.”

So if Uriah gets past Kelvin Gastelum what fight works best for Uriah next? We say Cung Le. Cung doesn’t have a fight right now, and rankings-wise the fight makes sense. It would also be an absolute barn-burner. Stylistically it would be a stand-up war and I think we can all agree that would be a worthy main even for an FX card. Hell, put that on a PPV and I’m buying it. You’re welcome, Joe Silva.
