Fernando Vargas – “Nick Diaz said no to our fight; Vitor Belfort has best hands in MMA”

Remember when Nick Diaz was going to walk away from MMA altogether and pursue professional boxing full-time? He was scheduled and was said to have signed a bout agreement to debut against the former two-time world champion, “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas. The bout fell apart and we were left without what could have been a great fight for all to enjoy.

Catching up with Vargas in Las Vegas was Fight Hub TV correspondent, Michael Mardones, who was able to discuss the Diaz bout cancellation and get Vargas’ opinion on MMA in general.

“Supposedly when he wanted to fight, we contacted hm and…he was like ‘oh we don’t wanna fight you know more, we got someone else.”

Looking beyond the Stockton native, Vargas does like MMA and has his thoughts on who has the best hands in the sport right now. “I like MMA, my third son, he wants to do it – so I am training him how to throw his hands, most of those guys don’t know how… my man, Vitor Belfort, he has the best hands in MMA.”

Enjoying life outside of the ring with investments, business franchises and having all his faculties still in tact, do not look to see him mounting a comeback anytime soon.

“I’m done, not coming back, I’m retired man.”
