On Friday, Tito Ortiz announced that his star client Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos had requested she be released from her UFC contract. It came to a huge surprise as MMA fans had hoped that Cyborg and current UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey would face off after a year of trash talk from both sides. The main sticking point as to why the match up continues to be beyond the horizon is weight. Rousey feels Cyborg should come down to 135lbs, and Cyborg maintains it would be impossible for her to be able to cut that much weight safely.

Thus seeing no action for more than a year and no guarantee that the UFC would bring in a 145lbs division, Santos felt that it was the right course of action to ask to be released to the dismay of many fight fans. We had a chance to speak to Santos as she spoke on her decision to ask for her release as well as saying that she believes Rousey has been running from her. Check out the full interview below!
