Robert Garcia “Brandon Rios told me KO in 5 rounds; In 1 or 2 more fights he should be ready to headline PPV”

No! No! No! Robert Garcia tells us that Brandon Rios has been telling him that he will knockout Mike Alvarado in five rounds in their anticipated rematch on March 30th in Las Vegas. This is no bueno! We want twelve back and forth rounds of blood, drama, and exchanges…not five! At least give us nine!

Both Rios and Alvarado are probably hoping that they are able to to win in a very short amount of time on March 30th, seeing that these types of fights shorten fighters careers. As is the story with rematches, there is a chance we could see a totally different fight from Alvarado and Rios? wait a sec, who are we kidding here. We all know Brandon Rios has one gear and that is go, so it is very unlikely we are going to see him adapt a Mayweather approach to this fight or any other future fights.

Alvarado is a different story. He was attempting to implement shoulder movement in the first fight and it is conceivable that he has been hard at working trying to make that style work for him in this rematch.

That is the big wild card factor for this rematch, how will Alvarado adjust?

Though he was down on the scorecards in the first fight, one judge had it a draw and it was very close. Alvarado did have tremendous success boxing Rios from the outside, though his inner “Randy Macho Man Savage” brought him chest to chest with Rios which ultimately spelled doom and destruction for him. If Rios has been working on power, it will definitely spell a quicker fight for him the second time around if he lures Alvarado once more inside the pocket. Though if Alvarado boxes on the outside and is able to stay discipline in there and not let that latino heat get in his brain and go all macho and want to fight, he could get the victory.

I think we all just want something that remotely resembles the first fight. Rematches rarely live up to the hype of their predecessor and if we are able to get 4-5 solid rounds of high octane drama, boxing fans will be happy campers. Check out what Robert Garcia has to say about Rios possibly making the jump to PPV in the next one or two fights below as well.
