Paulie Malignaggi “Most people will never experience what Ortiz went thru; They need to stay quiet”

In his last match up Victor Ortiz suffered a broken jaw via the hands of one Josesito Lopez. It was a huge upset and a big blow to Ortiz who was scheduled to face Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in a major PPV bout. Ortiz had his jaw broken somewhere around the fifth round and continued on until the fight was ultimately stopped in round nine. Images of his match up with Marcos Maidana instantly popped up, fans and critics alike labeled the young Ortiz a quitter once more.

We thought it was the right choice for Ortiz. No matter how many times fighters say they are ready to die in the ring, no one wants to see that and these fighters have families and loved ones that care about them dearly. Ortiz saved himself from permanent retirement by deciding to halt the bout and really the only ones who could talk on the situation would be fighters who have suffered broken jaws. Michael Mardones recently caught up with Paulie Malignaggi, who suffered a broken jaw in his bout with Miguel Cotto and eventually finished the fight. Malignaggi gives his two cents on people labeling Ortiz a quitter and has a message to his critics.
