Shane Mosley may face Anthony Mundine next at 154, not ready to retire yet

shane mosley vs. anthony mudine

Coming off his first win in over four years two weeks ago in Cancun MX, “Sugar” Shane Mosley is ready to get back to work and could do so in a very big way. Earlier today Mosley spoke to Marcos Villegas and informed him that a jump back to junior middleweight and a potential fight with Australian middleweight Anthony Mundine could be in the works, “They are throwing fights at me over there in Australia with Anthony Mundine and throwing out a lot of money. It would probably be in August or September and that would be at 154.”

154? I bet that was the first question that popped into your mind and if you take a look back at Mosley’s career history, he has not fared so well when fighting at junior middleweight. So why is Mosley after having a good showing against Pablo Caesar Cano at welterweight now jumping back up to 154? Mosley contends it is a decision he is not to happy about if the fight comes to fruition, ” I do not want to go to 154. I am 147 but if you throw around some good money at me and he is coming down to 154 and I am going up to 154 and him being from Australia and they do not have that many big fights..” Let us finish Mosley’s sentence right there, it would make sense to make a fight for him in the land down under, in a place where the money would thunder for him.

Mosley’s name has been thrown around as the potential opponent for the winner of Malginaggi/Broner bout which is taking place on June 22nd at The Barclays Center in New York. Though through Mosley’s eyes, it would make sense to stay active and earn a pretty decent payday headlining what would be a major fight in Australia. Either or do not expect Mosley to hang up the gloves anytime soon, “If it is time for me to go, I will go. It is not time yet, when it is time I will be gone but not yet. I am hungrier than ever to win a world title.”
