Juan Manuel Marquez feels speed is the key to beat Bradley; says style similar to Freddie Norwood

marquez vs bradley

When Juan Manuel Marquez takes on Timothy Bradley on October 12th at The Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, he will attempt to be the first Mexican boxer in history to win five titles in five different divisions. This feat which was almost accomplished in November of 2011 in his third match up with Manny Pacquiao could very well put him in the same breath as Julio Cesar Chavez, Mexico’s greatest boxer.

Many would argue that Marquez is technically a overall better boxer than Chavez, given his ring IQ and his counter punching ability. Though for one to even mention Marquez  in the same breath as Chavez he has to get pass Bradley. This objective was the main reason Marquez optioned to pass on a 5th match with Manny Pacquiao, one of which would of given him a mich higher purse than what he will be rewarded for fighting Bradley.

So what will be the key to victory in this fight? Marquez feels it will be speed knowing that Bradley does posses fast hands and movement. More importantly speed will be crucial in landing well placed counter shots during a Bradley flurry, shots in which could see Bradley hit the floor given Marquez new found power.

In Los Angeles our man Marcos Villegas caught up with Marquez to talk about the bout and surprisingly revealed that Bradley reminded him of a man he lost to many moons ago..Freddie Norwood. Who? Former featherweight champion Freddie Norwood..do your homework guys! See Marquez talk about this and much more in the full interview below!
