This weekend a highly anticipated super bantamweight match up will take place, as current WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares will defend his strap against the elusive Anselmo Moreno at The Staples Center this November 10th. Both fighters have a lot on the line, as a win potentially sets them up with Nonito Donaire the other big name in the super bantamweight division. Though it can just be wishful thinking for both fighters getting a chance to face Donaire, as the Top Rank/Golden Boy feud is a huge obstacle in making any fight with Donaire happening.
We had a chance to stop by and speak to Abner Mares as we observed him in one of his last training days before his bout. Mares sparred for a total of four rounds, in which he looked aggressive and attack the body with relentlessness. Mares is coming into his own and we shot this mitt workout with his trainer Clemente Medina as wraps up camp. Look for our one on one interview with Mares coming soon as well!
