Marcos Maidana on why he did better than Guerrero & Canelo against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

maidana intimidate

As Marcos Maidana and Floyd Mayweather Jr. descended on Los Angeles yesterday to finish off their five city press tour, I pondered a question. Why was Marcos Maidana able to have such success against a guy who recently has shut out fighters who are rugged and come forward.

In Mayweather’s matches with Robert Guerrero and Canelo Alvarez, we all expected both fighters to move forward and pressure. At the very least, rough up Floyd for a few rounds and make it interesting. Both of these fighter could not do that at all as Mayweather’s smarts, his jab and his ability to adapt shut out these fighters offense.

Not Marcos Maidana though. Chino’s fight with Mayweather showed a vulnerable Mayweather in the early rounds in which Maidana was able to come forward, pressure and landed shots to the head and body. Mayweather slowly took control of the fight but he did have legit trouble against Maidana. So it was with this thought that I went to Los Angeles and asked Marcos Maidana as to why he did so well where other have failed.
