Former junior welterweight champ and current welterweight contender Marcos Maidana wants to face WBA welterweight champ Adrien Broner and he let the world know by calling out Broner via Twitter.

Maidana tweeted:

Sure there is a slew of fighters who want to mix it up with Broner in the ring next and rightfully so, as Broner is the brightest up and comer in the sport today.

Fresh off his split decision victory over Paulie Malignaggi last month, Broner is quickly becoming known as one of the most exciting, skilled and controversial fighters in the game today.

Often compared to pound-for-pound king, Floyd Mayweather, Broner (27-0, 22 KOs) has a ways to go before he reaches “Money’s” level, but if he continues at the pace he is going at now, he will reach that level within a few years.

Maidana (34-3, 31 KOs) is a solid contender and he has beaten some solid fighters in his career such as Victor Ortiz, Josesito Lopez and Jesus Soto Karass to name a few.

Maidana also fell flat against the two best fighters he has faced to date in Devon Alexander and Amir Khan, losing both via unanimous decision in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

Maidana has tremendous knockout power having 31 KOs in his 34 victories giving him a staggering 91 percent knockout-to-victory ratio. Broner is no chump when it comes to KOs himself having a 81 percent knockout-to-win ratio with 22 KOs in his 27 wins.

Maidana is a solid option for Broner, but at the moment the fight the public wants to see is Broner vs. the heavy-handed Lucas Matthysse. Broner asked his fans who they want his next opponent to be and Matthysse (34-2, 32 KOs) was the overwhelming favorite, garnering 43 percent of the vote, beating out Danny Garcia who pulled in 28 percent of the vote.

If Broner chooses to fight Maidana or Matthysse next those will both be great fights, with a knockout victory in either of the fights being a real possibility.
