Manny Pacquiao says he won’t leave Top Rank to land Floyd Mayweather mega-fight

Just when talk started to heat up again regarding a possible Floyd Mayweather Jr.Manny Pacquiao mega-fight, Pac-Man put a screeching halt to the dream fight that may never be when he said he would not leave Top Rank in order to meet Mayweather in the ring.

“Floyd Mayweather Jr. never runs out of excuses just to avoid fighting me. If I leave Top Rank, there’s no guarantee the fight would push through.

“So, why should I leave Top Rank? Just to make Pacquiao-Mayweather fight happen? No way,” Pacquiao told Inquirer Sports

Mayweather said that for him to fight Pacquiao that Pac-Man would have to leave Top Rank because he will not do business with Top Rank’s Bob Arum after years of bad blood between the two.

So Pacquiao saying he will not leave Top Rank is the latest and maybe the definitive reason that Mayweather and Pacquiao will never face each other in the ring, not that there was any real hope making the fight happen anyway.

Before Pacquiao’s impressive win over Brandon Rios in November chatter quieted down considerably about a Mayweather versus Pacquiao fight. After Pacquiao won fairly handily fans began to bring up the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight once again only for their hopes to be shot down.

Going forward, Pacquiao will likely face Timothy Bradley next in his scheduled April 12 bout and Mayweather will probably meet British star Amir Khan for his scheduled May 3 fight date.

Despite repeated failed attempts to make a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight happen fans still hold out hope that they will one day witness the two best fighters of their generation settle the score of who is the best of the last decade. No matter how long fans wait they will never see the fight we’ve all wanted to see go down because politics in boxing are not going away and seem to be getting worse with each day that passes .
