Julio Diaz says he will most likely retire after loss to Keith Thurman

Julio Diaz retires

Julio Diaz will most likely retire from the sport of boxing after being stopped by Keith Thurman in between rounds due to a body shot last night at The Stub Hub Center. The veteran who compiled a record of 40-10 with twenty-nine knockouts feels that it is time to let the new blood of boxing take their place. In speaking with him last night post fight, Diaz had this to say about his loss to Thurman:

“I don’t want to give this type of performance. It takes common sense. You have to give space to the new talent. I can still perform but what opportunities will be out there for me? I don’t want to go back to a ballroom and be someones stepping stone. I don’t want to do that. I’ve had a great career and I don’t want to do that.”

If this is indeed the final curtain call in the career of Diaz, we would like to thank him for all the great fights he has given us in his career and wish him nothing but happiness and peace in his post fight career.
