Juan Manuel Marquez Has No Interest in a 5th bout with Manny Pacquiao

Juan Manuel Marquez all but put to rest any hope of a fifth Marquez-Manny Pacquiao bout saying he will never give Pac-man another shot according to Bad Left Hook.

Obviously not sitting well with Pacquiao calling the knockout  shot that Marquez landed on him a “lucky punch,” he sounded off on why he has no interest in adding another chapter to the Marquez-Pacquiao saga at this time.

“I’d rather stay with the memory of that ‘lucky punch’ that I connected on Pacquiao. It’s about pride and honor, not money. That’s why in that contest there was no championship at stake, only the WBO’s Champion of The Decade belt. There are no plans [to fight after Bradley]. We’ll leave this commitment first, and then see. First I want to see how I feel and if I plan continue with my career.”

Some may say that Marquez owes Pacquiao another shot for all the rematches he agreed to with Marquez, but those were made because each decision could have gone either way and in some cases probably should have gone Marquez’s way.

With Marquez winning in such convincing style in the fourth bout, the fact that he doesn’t want to give Pacquiao another shot shouldn’t be questioned. There was no question who won the fourth bout and if Marquez is content not having a fifth bout then so be it.

Although he expresses no interest now, the winner of the Marquez-Timothy Bradley bout could very well meet Pacquiao in the ring next, if Pacquiao can take care of business in November against Brandon Rios.

For now we can all close the Marquez-Pacquaio story, but don’t be surprised if you’re opening it back up in the future to add another chapter to the already nine-year affair.
