Golovkin trainer Abel Sanchez “Ask Sergio Martinez why he won’t fight Golovkin,” calls Quillin a undercard fighter

Some fighting words have been put out by way of Abel Sanchez, the trainer of one Gennady Golovkin. It is no secret that his champion has had difficulty securing big name opponents over the past year. And really, who the heck would want to fight a guy like Golovkin? A guy who in the past fourteen fights has ended them all by knockout? It is something Sanchez and Golovkin’s management, K2 Promotions has had to deal with over the past year and it has them wondering who the heck will fight their guy and why hasn’t the lineal champion at middleweight fought Golovkin?

We by all means are not saying Martinez is ducking Golovkin at all. His choice of wanting to face Miguel Cotto instead of “GGG” is all business. Given his age and how much time he has left in boxing, Martinez has every right to go with the bigger reward fight. It does have trainer Abel Sanchez asking “Why won’t you fight Gennady Golovkin?” The only other tile holder in the division is Peter Quillin whom Sanchez in this interview with Marcos Villegas refers to as a “undercard fighter.”

Damn, son. Them some bombs being spit out. Golovkin and trainer are going to keep trucking along until finally someone with a huge name comes up to the plate. In the meantime, you can catch G three in action on Feb 1st in Monaco, Monte Carlo.
