Danny Garcia vs. Rod Salka- Garcia media workout highlight video

Danny Garcia is set to make his 5th defense of his undisputed 140 lbs titles as he takes on Rod Salka at the Barclays Center on Showtime on Aug 9th. When the bout between Garcia and Salka was announced, a collective “WTF” was screamed out by hard core boxing fans. How was it that Salka, who is unranked by the WBC and WBA has gotten a chance to face the undisputed champion at 140 lbs over a guy like Mauricio Herrera? (Herrera faced Garcia last March in a fight which many felt he won)

::shrugs::

This is boxing and the way the sport is set up, Team Garcia can now pick and choose whom they feel like facing to a certain point. Garcia certainly has earned the right to do that and his schedule over the past two years is a testament to that. He won the undisputed titles from Amir Khan in July of 2012 and then went on to defend the titles against Erik Morales, Zab Judah,Lucas Matthysse and Herrera. Garcia is definitely no slouch; I think part of the reason fans are so pissed off about this fight is the level of competition Garcia has faced compared to what Salka is. Fans have come to expect Garcia to face the top guys in his division and being the undisputed champion at junior welterweight, it is expected he fight nothing but the elite in that weight class.

Ah Boxing….what a whacky sport right?

Well yesterday in Philadelphia, Danny Garcia held a media workout ahead of his clash with Salka. Check out a bit more muscular (looks like someone is moving up to welterweight) Danny Garcia workout in the video below!
