With just three days until the megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, the fighters and their handlers took to the stage inside the KA Theater at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. to hype up their Sept. 14 bout.

In a short press conference both fighters gave a less than a minute speech on why they will win come Saturday night, but it was Mayweather who once again left the crowd with a memorable quote.

“I’ve been here before so I know what it takes. A guy who is 42-0, he hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweather’s cause he would be 0-42,” Mayweather said.

Mayweather went on to talk about how he was made for moments like this and that he is better than any other fighter.

“Whatever any fighter can do good I can do great. I was born to be here, born to be at this level. I’m at the pinnacle; I’m the face of boxing. “

Canelo (42-0-1, 30 KOs) gave a short blurb on himself, but seemed as confident as Mayweather (44-0, 26 KOs), all though he didn’t say anything we haven’t heard before.

“I appreciate all of you and all of the support for this fight. I’ve had great preparation and I want to thank my team for working hard with him and on Saturday night I will be victorious,” Canelo explained.

The fight has created buzz ever since it was first announced a few months back. The MGM Grand Garden Arena was sold out within 24 hours of the tickets for “The One” going on sale, making the $19.5 million dollar gate a record.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO, Richard Schaefer said that he expects the around 26,000 closed circuit seats at the MGM’s sister properties to sale out as well.

Then there is the number all involved in the fight hope to break: the pay-per-view buy record of 2.5 million set in 2007 when Mayweather faced Oscar De La Hoya.

Even if the 2.5 million buys is not reached, “The One” could still set the financial record due to the PPV cost being 64.95 for standard definition and 74.94 for high definition compared to that of Mayweather –De La Hoya which cost $54.95.

No matter who wins the fight all that tune in and are lucky enough to be there in person will be the ones who’ll reap the biggest rewards and that’s just how Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe feels.

“Come Saturday night, the fans will be the real winners,” Ellerbe said.
