With the media circus surrounding Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero in their media days Tuesday and Wednesday, it was new to Guerrero and just another day at the office for Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In this interview with Marcos Villegas, Mayweather talks about how he had to prolong his training camp for this bout. It was smart to do so as Mayweather has been out for close to a year with and to add to that had to work with getting back into boxing shape after spending multiple weeks in a Las Vegas jail cell last summer. Bringing his body back to its normal chiseled self appears to have been no problem as Mayweather looked as good as ever at his media day, held at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas.

Although much talk has been centered around Mayweather bringing back in his father, Floyd Sr., back in to the mix in his corner, it was his uncle Roger who was in there with Floyd Jr. during media day. Speculation was that Roger would not be as prevalent in the corner now that Floyd Sr. is back, but having Roger out there on media day proves that Roger will have much to do with Mayweather’s fight night in May 4. Having his uncle and father in his corner again will only better Floyd Jr.’s fight game, as the two have both proven themselves to be elite trainers in their own right.

It was reported a rematch clause was thrown in for the outcome of this fight in case Mayweather loses and he commented on it, answering in a usual Mayweather response adding that he would worry about that if it presents itself after the fight on May 4th. To many, this is a smart thing to have on his part in case the unthinkable happens, even though he played dumb when asked about the said rematch clause.

With Guerrero facing an NYC judge just 10 days after the May 4 fight date, the question was poised to Floyd about what he felt about the situation, “You got a guy who’s always preaching like he’s a preacher, like he loves God more than anyone else, and I feel that we’re all equal when it’s all said and done. You got this guy that’s going to the 700 Club, acting like he’s a pastor, but he got caught with a gun and he’s got Marilyn Monroe on his wall at his house, so like I said before, these guys are hypocrites.”

You can make a argument that possessing a gun is not a evil thing, noting that Guerrero had a permit for the gun in another state, with unloaded magazines and the gun itself being unloaded. Guerrero could put forth his best effort yet, just in case he is put away for some time for the gun charges he is facing. Going out with a win against the best pound-for-pound fighter of the last decade would help keep his name relevant if he is locked up in prison for any serious amount of time.
