Pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. will take on rising Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez tonight live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. headlining “The One” pay-per-view mega-event.

Mayweather will look to add win number 45 to his unbeaten record, while Canelo will look to notch a career-changing win that will send his star power to a whole new level.

The undercard features the heavily anticipated junior welterweight unification bout between champion Danny Garcia and the heard-hitting Lucas Matthysse. Even though Garcia is the champ and is unbeaten at 26-0 finds himself the underdog in the bout. This is due to Matthysse’s incredible punching power that had netted him 32 knockout victories in his 34 wins.

Also on the PPV card is the Money Team’s own, Ishe Smith, as he puts up his IBF junior middleweight title against Carlos Molina in Smith’s first title defense after beating Cornelius Bundrage earlier this year.

Both fighters should be hungry for a win as Smith will look to keep his title, hopefully setting him up with a bigger name in the division, as Molina will look to take advantage of what might be his last shot at winning a title.

Rounding out the PPV card will be newly signed Mayweather Promotions’ fighter, Ashely Theophane as he takes on the always tough Pablo Cesar Cano.

Theophane will hope to put on a solid showing in his first Las Vegas appearance, as well as his first PPV fight. Cano needs a big win to get his career back on track as he has he has lost his last two bouts at the hands of Shane Mosley and Paulie Malignaggi.

Ishe Smith vs. Carlos Molina

Carlos Molina beat Ishe Smith via split-decision 117-111, 116-112 (Molina) and 116-112 (Smith) in a fight that was no where near exciting, giving Molina the IBF junior middle weight strap.

Smith did his best to smother Molina, making it tough for Molina to land any shots of significance, but Molina was the busier fighter in the bout by far. Smith’s choice to fight in such close quarters could have paid off for him if he’d been a little more active.

Molina gave his career a huge boost in a time that it was in dire need and Smith will have to regroup to get his career back on track after such a tough loss.

Pablo Cesar Cano vs. Ashley Theophane

Pablo Cesar Cano spoiled Ashley Theophane’s Mayweather Promotions debut, defeating the British fighter via a somewhat controversial split-decision victory.

Taking control early in the fight, Cano utilized an aggressive body attack early to keep Theophane on his heels for much of the early rounds. Hurting Theophane multiple times in the bout with his left hook, Cano looked to be in control of the bout.

Theophane did show some heart, fighting his way back into the bout up until the final round. Cano took control of the bout in the 10th round helping secure his win.

Despite the split-decision, Cano won more handily than what the judges saw, helping set his career on the right track after suffering two straight loses.
