American Heavyweight, Chris Arreola (35-2), has pulled out of his June 23 bout against Mike Mollo (20-3) due to a hand injury. The fight was scheduled to take place on Showtime from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA, under the main event of Victor Ortiz (29-3) vs Josesito Lopez (29-4). With the fight only a week away, Arreola was forced to withdraw from the bout after suffering the injury. Head trainer of Arreola, Henry Ramirez spoke to Leave It In The Ring radio and informed them of the injury.

“He’s out with an arm injury. We were pondering what we were going to do and decided earlier today it was best for Arreola to heal the injury. This has been a long time injury. If you notice in his fights he shakes his left arm periodically.During training camp his arm would go dead once in a while. This time he just had to pull out of the fight.”

In the case of Arreola, is hard to doubt the seriousness of the injury, he is a fighter who simply likes to fight. He is one of the most active fighters in boxing today, having fought a total of five times in 2011. Arreola is currently ranked as a top ten heavyweight by all the major governing bodies. He is also in line to face Wladimir Klitschko (57-3) in November if Klitschko is successful in his July 7 fight against Tony Thompson (36-2). This injury definitely thrown a monkey wrench into those plans.

Hopefully, the injury is not too serious and Arreola can quickly recover from it and continue his quest to bring back the heavyweight title to America.
