Last night at The Stub Hub Center was another controversial night for boxing as Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was given a very unpopular decision over Brian Vera in a fight he flatly lost. The judges scored the fight 96-94, 98-92, 97-93 in which two judges gave Jr. the majority of the rounds…even though Vera landed more punches overall in the fight.
Being there press side, it is important to note that the same guys who were cheering for Chavez Jr., ended up booing him when he was announced the winner. Testament to who they felt won the fight and something of a moral victory Vera can come away with. In the post fight press conference, Chavez Jr. revealed he had fractured his hand in the fourth round and felt he would of been able to stop Vera if that did not happen.
