Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. “Sergio Martinez can be beat! No one is invincible!”

Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. is the very definition of a walking legend. The elder Chavez amassed a record of 107 wins, 6 losses and 2 draws, with 89 knockouts. For you new fans of the sport, something like that is unheard of these days..but wait it gets better! He holds records for most successful consecutive defenses of world titles (27), most title fights (37), most title-fight victories (31) and he is tied with Joe Louis for most title defenses won by knockout (21). Chavez also has the longest undefeated streak in boxing history, 13 years. His record was 89-0-1 going into his first loss to Frankie Randall and had an 87 fight win streak until his draw with another great Pernell Whitaker.

Talk about huge shoes to fill for Jr. right? With that being said, when Chavez Sr. speaks everyone shuts up and that is what we pretty much did as we caught up with him in Las Vegas while his son, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. trained away. Chavez Sr. believes that this is the fight that will get his son acceptance and respect of the boxing public and believes that Sergio Martinez can be beat on September 15th and will be beat.
