In front of a packed Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, Julio Cesar Chavez stepped up in competition and busted up Irish man John Duddy en route to a unanimous decision. The judges scored the bout 120-108, 116-112, 117-111. Chavez Jr. now moves onto a perfect record of 41-0 and 30 KO’ as he wins the totally pointless WBC silver middleweight title. It was a back and forth affair but Chavez landed the more effective shots and surprisingly banged with Duddy in toe to toe exchanges. Duddy showed no quit as he exchanged and landed hard shots on his opponent. Chavez Jr., though landed the flusher punches and it was reflected rightfully so in the judges scorecards.
