Canelo Alvarez feels Lara is the most dangerous rival at 154. Not predicting a KO but welcomes it.

Canelo lara

Canelo vs. Lara is a pretty interesting bout when put on paper. The two fighters have struggled with rivals in the past with similar styles and on July 12th on Showtime PPV, it will be the prevailing question on the minds and boxing pundits. Who will be able to adjust and make the other fighter fight their type of fight?

You can get into endless debates about how Canelo does poorly against slick defensive minded fighters but let it be known, Erislandy Lara is no Floyd Mayweather Jr. On the other side of the spectrum, Lara was floored twice by a offensive minded yet limited Alfredo Angulo in a bout in which it wasn’t beyond doubt he could of been stopped.

Canelo is no Angulo; If anything fans will throw a tomato at you and say he is ten times better. There is no arguing there but Lara is possibly the second best fighter Canelo has faced in his career. If Canelo is truly the “chosen one” whom the PPV torch is to be passed to then on July 12th he must pass the Cuban test and do so with flying colors.

Canelo vs. Lara is eight days away.
