Can Randall Bailey pull off another upset in facing Devon Alexander on Sept. 8?

by Jorge Alarcon-Swaby

On the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao (54-4) vs Timothy Bradley (29-0) PPV event this past June 9, Randall Bailey (40-7) defeated unbeaten Mike Jones (26-1) by an impressive knockout in the 11th round. With the win, Bailey won the IBF welterweight title and right away, many fight opportunities for him opened up.

With the many options out there, it seems like his next opponent is no easy task, he is set to face Devon Alexander (23-1), also known as Alexander the Great.

In Alexander, Bailey will be facing a young and very determined fighter, one who is the former IBF and WBC junior welterweight champion and someone who is coming of a very impressive win over Argentinian Marcos Maidana (31-3).

Bailey is now 37 years old, 12 years older than Alexander who is only 25. Due to the age difference and the quality of opponents they have both faced lately, there is no doubt that Bailey will be the clear underdog coming into the fight. The same position he found himself in when he was set to face Jones.

The bought will take place this September 8 and will be broadcasted live by Showtime. No venue for the event has been set at this moment.
