British stars Amir Khan and recently crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook will meet in May at Wembley Stadium if the two are successful in their December matches according to telegraph.co.uk.

Promoter Eddie Hearn told The Telegraph that the December Brook-Khan double header will be held at the 12,000 seat Sheffield arena. Hearn revealed to Fight Hub TV that Juan Manuel Marquez, Brandon Rios and Keith Thurman were among those Brook could face in December. Possible opponents for Khan in December include Devon Alexander and Robert Guerrero.

The proposed Khan-Brook battle would be held at the 80,000 seat Wembley Stadium, banking off the success that the Carl Froch-George Groves II fight saw earlier this year.

The crowd was electric for the Froch-Grooves bout at Wembley and one would expect the same for a Khan-Brook bout. The two are some of the biggest sports start in the country and would fill up the famed stadium with little problem.

The announcement also means that Khan’s Floyd Mayweather Jr. dream fight will have to be put on hold for at least until September 2015, as there was a serious chance Khan would be next in the Mayweather Sweepstakes.

Most fighters would drop everything to face Mayweather for the amount of attention a Mayweather-backed bout receives and the amount of money a Mayweather opponent gets. But, in this case, the Brook fight in front of a hometown audience would be big enough for Khan to put his Mayweather shot on hold a bit longer.

So, if this holds true it will mean we have two big fight events to look forward to next May, a month that is usually headlined by Mayweather. With all the hype a Khan-Brook fight would receive, the fight would rival the pound-for-pound kings second to last fight on his six-fight Showtime deal.
