Yesterday in Los Angeles, WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley held a media workout to promote his March 16th match up with Ruslan Provodnikov at The Home Depot center. As is usually the case, Bradley showed up in shape and looked great as he did 2 rounds of mitts with trainer Joel Diaz, a round of the double end bag and capped it off with a unusual trampoline workout.

Yes a trampoline workout.

In speaking with Joel Diaz, he mentioned that the trampoline has actually been a staple of Bradley’s workouts for quite some time, ” Timmy has been doing this for about three years. It just works out everything, you whole body. Forget about the jump rope, do about 10 mins of that and you will see.” As to what in specific the trampoline exercises help Bradley in, Diaz had this to say, ” It strengthens your ankles, your core.” My immediate reaction was thinking back to Bradley’s bout with Manny Pacquiao as he virtually fought with two injured feet over the course of twelve rounds. Diaz nodded his head when I mentioned if the trampoline training helped him stay on his feet the entire fight.

So what in specific does Bradley do while on the trampoline? He straps on ten pound weights to his ankles and jumps for a pre-determined amount of time. He then grabbed two 15 pound dumbbells and would jump and curl the two weights at the same time. He then would alternate his legs back and forth and by the end of it, he was pretty damn sweaty.
