Marco Antonio Barrera will be rooting for Chavez Jr., talks Canelo/Lopez, Erik Morales and Naseem Hamed

There is no doubting the greatness of Marco Antonio Barrera. The former lineal lightweight champion of the world as well as super bantamweight and featherweight title holder is now enjoying a career in broadcasting in which he lends his boxing expertise on camera. This writer for one is delighted that Barrera has been able to find success outside of boxing, where many of his colleagues have failed to do so.

Barrera recently spoke to Marcos Villegas in Los Angeles as he is asked who he thinks will win between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Sergio Martinez, “I am rooting for the Mexican, but it will be a good and tough fight,” said Barrera. There will be another superstar Mexican fight on TV over the weekend, and that man is Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Barrera chimed in on his personal thoughts on the twenty-two year old wonderkid, “I want to see Canelo vs. Chavez. That would be a very good fight.” When pressed on who he thought would win a potential Alvarez/Chavez Jr. clash Barrera declined to answer though he gave us a special treat as he shared with us his most memorable moment inside the boxing ring as well as a little something on Erik Morales.
