Welterweight contender Amir Khan is looking to fight at the end of the year and he has couple of opponents in mind.

Devon Alexander and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero are the two fighters who the 27-year-old Khan hopes to fight in December according to the BBC.

The bout would be his first since besting Luis Collazo on the undercard of “The Moment” pay-per-view undercard headlined by Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Maidana.

Khan’s win in that was supposed to be a set up bout to land a lucrative fight with Mayweather or even Manny Pacquiao. Khan observing Ramadan during the month of September prevented that from coming to fruition this year as Mayweather planned his September fight as he has the past few years.

“We were looking at Manny Pacquiao, but that fell through. We looked at Mayweather but that didn’t happen because of Ramadan,” Khan explained.

Khan hopes that a bout with either Alexander or Guerrero would serve as a tuneup fight for a Mayweather or Pacquiao showdown in 2015.

“Those fights can definitely happen in the future but I need a ‘tickover fight’ in December,” Khan said.

The British star hopes to have the proposed December bout in England but is open for it to take place elsewhere if needed.

“I would like it to be in England and I am trying to get it over here. If not it could be America, or even Dubai,” Khan stated.

Either Alexander or Guerrero would be a solid bout if he does indeed land a mega bout with Mayweather or Pacquiao. Both fighters would represent the toughest challenge of his career outside of Danny Garcia who beat Khan via TKO in 2012.

Alexander is a former two-division champion with some respectable wins on his resume including ones over Maidana, Lucas Matthysse and Randall Bailey to name a few. Beating a fighter like Alexander would be a good confidence booster heading into what could be the biggest fight of his career.

Guerrero, a former four division world champ, has been in the ring with Mayweather before, but was outclassed and overshadowed by his father’s antics pre-and post-fight. Guerrero is a better fighter that what he showed against Mayweather and would be hungry to get a win over a named opponent like Khan.

Neither Alexander or Guerrero is necessarily known for their power so Khan’s somewhat suspect chin wouldn’t be a big factor against the two.
