Former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan was arrested early Friday on suspicion of common assault on two teenagers in his hometown of Bolton, England.

The Bolton News reported that Khan pulled up to the two teens after they left a mosque in the area when one of the teens allegedly mouthed off to one of Khan’s friends.

Khan responded to the teens by yelling, “Don’t you know who I am, I am AK,” according a man who witnessed the alleged altercation. Khan then proceeded to get out of his car when the alleged assault occurred.

Another witness said she heard a lot of commotion from Khan’s vehicle before the assault and when his vehicle took off there was someone laying in the street.

“I could hear a lot of noise and I saw Amir’s car,” the unidentified eyewitness said. “Then I saw him get out of the car. Then he drove off and there was a man on the floor.”

When the police arrived at the scene they found two young men who had been assaulted and arrested the 27-year-old Khan.

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but both victims did not request any help the report states.

Khan is currently a prospect to fight either or both Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao within the next year. There is no word on how his recent criminal activity will affect either potential bouts, but going off the history of the sport of boxing, don’t expect many problems as far as boxing goes for Khan as a result of this arrest.
